
Track Sprint Cyclist / Road
A 3 time winner of European Road Races, 4th in the under 23 World Road Race championships and a Professional contract with a UCI Pro Tour team in 2009 point to a very bright future for the young man from Rotherham.
As a junior rider he won two national titles (2004 Junior Points Race; 2005, Scratch race). He
made his professional road debut in August 2007 joining Barloworld as a
trainee during which time he won the King of the Mountains title in the
Tour of Britain.
During 2008 he raced for the British Cycling development team and won his first UCI ranked race. He
represented Great Britain in the 2008 Olympic Games road race and at
the UCI World Championships were he finished fourth in the under 23
race.
After the championships he signed a two year professional contract with the new Russian Katusha team.
In 2009 he was selected to ride the Giro d'Italia. Swift finished 3rd in the 2nd stage of the Giro d'Italia.
Ben is as astonished as anyone else at the good results he has had so far this season. Only 21 years old and in his first pro year, with ProTour Team Katusha, he already has a series of top ten finishes. |
