Former West Indies Cricketer
Clive Lloyd CBE AO is one of the most decorated West Indies cricketers. He captained the West Indies between 1974 and 1985 and is one of the most successful captains in cricketing history. During his captaincy the side had a run of 27 matches without defeat, which included 11 wins in succession. He also became the first West Indian to win 100 Test caps. Lloyd was named a Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1971 for his performances in the previous 12 months, when he'd scored 1600 runs for Lancashire at 47.
Since retiring as a player, Lloyd has remained heavily involved in cricket, managing the West Indies in the late 1990s, and coaching and commentating. He was an ICC match referee from 2001-2006, officiating in both semi-final and final of the 1996 World Cup. In 2008 Lloyd was appointed the chairman of the ICC Cricket Committee.
Lloyd is considered one of the cricketing greats with a career spanning years and honours from both the UK and Australia, as a CBE and AO for his contribution and achievements within the world of cricket and sport. |
