Ed Clancy specialises in the Team
Pursuit on the track and on the 17th August 2008, he was a member of
the Olympic Team Pursuit squad who broke the World Record twice on their way to
a Gold medal, seeing off their Danish competitors in the final by 6.7 seconds.
Ed acted as Man One for the Team Pursuit, meaning he was responsible for using
his speed and endurance to get the team up to speed as quickly as possible over
the first one and a half laps.
Following on from a fantastic 2008
which saw Ed add a World Championship title and an MBE to his Olympic Gold
medal, he turned his attention back to the road. In his first domestic race of
the season, Ed took home the Gold once again, winning the Eddie Soens Memorial
Race by using the sprinting ability he has perfected on the track to give him
the edge. He also played a significant part in helping Team Halfords Bikehut
win the inaugural Tour Series championship title.
