Since breaking the British junior record in 2001, Goldie has gone on to become Britain’s leading field event athlete. She is a double Olympian and has been an Olympic, World, Commonwealth and European Championship finalist.
2008 saw Goldie break the British Record in the Olympic final with a throw of 65.75m taking her to 4th place and confirming her prospects as a leading medal contender for London 2012.
2009 was a year restricted by injury however Goldie won her 7th consecutive National title and is targeting history in 2010 by becoming the first athlete to win 8 consecutive National titles.
A return to full fitness and European and Commonwealth titles in her sights, 2010 is shaping up as a key stepping stone for Goldie on her journey towards Olympic Gold at London 2012.
Goldie played county hockey, netball and tennis and was a national under 12 table tennis champion. She gained a First Class Honours degree in Sport and Exercise Science from Loughborough University and is an experienced and sort after motivational speaker.
Goldie also enjoys pottery and photography and is a classically trained violinist. Her father – the late country singer Pete Sayers - was the first Englishman to play in the world-famous Grand Ole Opry, Nashville, Tennessee and also had his own breakfast show in the USA.
