Jamie Staff, Ed Clancy and Eleanor Simmonds awarded MBE's in New Year Honours List
Great Britain's Olympic gold medallists from Beijing 2008 have been awarded a raft of honous in the New Year honours list with Mission clients Jamie Staff (Mens Team Sprint Gold, Cycling) and Ed Clancy (Mens Team Pursuit Gold, Cycling) both receiving MBE's.
The darling of Team GB at The Paralympic Games in Beijing Eleanor Simmonds has also been awarded an MBE and becomes both the youngest ever recepient of the honour and the first ever minor to receive an MBE.
Eleanor said "the last three months have been a whirlwind and, while feeling as though I am living in a fairy tale, I want to work hard to keep my feet on the ground and refocus my efforts on my training and my schoolwork so that by 2012 I can hopefully repay in part the wonderful accolades and affection that I have received, for which I will always remains unendingly grateful no matter what the future holds”
